Throughout 2016 we have kept a list of all the birds and other animals that we have seen in the priory and gardens. An impressive total of twenty-two different species of birds were recorded, i.e. pheasant, blackbird, robin, mallard, sparrow, jackdaw, bluetit, swift, wren, jay, pigeon, nuthatch, chiffchaff, siskin, blackcap, goose, greenfinch, whitethroat, tawny owl, sparrow hawk, garden warbler and greenfinch. There were also many different bees and butterflies seen.
Earlier in the year we especially enjoyed seeing the pair of bluetits flying in and out of their nest in the wall near to the priory entrance gate.
The much commented on molehills are evidence of mammal activity – read the news article about the small mammal survey to see what else we have found.
