Another great day for this year’s Picnic in the Priory, the tenth successive year that we have organised this popular event.
Despite putting up the marquees in the rain the day before we were largely lucky with the weather on the day. We counted in 1125 adult visitors and 690 children and the day was enjoyed by all.
New attractions this year included a birds of prey flying display and the chance to try making pottery or playing hockey. These new activities were alongside other old favourites, such as circus skills, archery, musical performances and wood-turning demonstrations. The refreshments stall provided a lip-smacking display of home-baked goods which, together with the ice-cream and hog roast on sale gave a wide range of food available to buy.
There are photos on our Facebook page here.
On the day we raised just over £1900. Together with the grants and donations received this means that we will cover the costs of the day and make a few hundred pounds profit to put towards the work on site. Details of the grants and donations received can be found here.
Thank you to everyone who came to help on Friday and during the event day itself on Saturday. Also a big thank you for all the donations for the event. Picnic in the Priory is our biggest fundraising event of the year and the most difficult to put on and we could not do it without your continued support.
