Work starts on Monks' Walk trees
....................................................

Work has now started on the 62 lime trees that make up the 250 year old Monks’ Walk in Gisborough Priory Woodland Gardens. The tree work is being carried out by qualified workers from Oakdale (NE) Ltd with the help of a platform that allows them to reach tup to the top of the 25m tall trees. You can see some photos here. In the photos, you can see Brian and Malcolm at work.

The work has been made possible thanks to a grant of £11,064 from the Postcode Local Trust. The Postcode Local Trust is a grant-giving charity funded entirely by players of People’s Postcode Lottery.

The work will increase the safety of visitors to the woodland gardens and to volunteers working there. It will also help to prolong the life of the Monks’ Walk lime trees which are estimated to be over 200 years old. It is expected that the work will take just over a week to complete.
