We are pleased to report that we have recently been awarded significant funding that will help us with our work in Gisborough Priory Gardens.
The Impetus Environmental Trust awarded Gisborough Priory Project £5000 Landfill Community Fund monies towards the cost of essential work to trees in the gardens. Over several weeks, men from Oakdale (NE) Ltd removed dead wood from the lime trees of the Monks’ Walk. Some trees elsewhere in the gardens were left as poles to encourage wildlife, while others were removed. We hope that this important work will extend the life of the trees in the garden and allow the site to be open to visitors on a regular basis.
We have also received funding of £970 from the Tees Valley Community Foundation. This has enabled us to buy new tools and safety requipment for use by the volunteers who work in the gardens. The new tools have already been put to good use at our regular volunteer work sessions.
SABIC UK Petrochemicals have kindly supported our landscaping work with a donation of £250. Together with the £5000 received last year from the Jack Brunton Trust, this has enabled us to grass the centre of the Monks’ Walk and plant new areas reflecting the history of the gardens.
We are very grateful to Shirley Hamilton and her family for donations in lieu of flowers to benefit Gisborough Priory Project after the death of Shirley’s husband Ken. A total of £479 has been collected and will be used to provide a new bench in the gardens in memory of Ken.
Many thanks to all our donors. We look forward to using the funds to make the gardens accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
